The fight against food waste joins social commitment. That's how our t-shirt are born, realized in collaboration with Extraliberi, cooperative and artigianal silk-screen printing laboratory for hand-printing clothing.
Since 2007 the Turin social cooperative combines handicraft and social commitment. Their works are done thanks to the work of the inmates of the Lorusso e Cutugno prison in Turin, with whom they have been working for more than 10 years.
Together they build a professional retraining experience that gives value to the time of the sentence and transforms it into a concrete opportunity that offers new chances to those who made mistakes.
In Italy there are 200 prisons with more than 50.000 inmates, most of whom suffer from recidivism due to lack of opportunities. Official data about recidivism shows that the rate is 70% and the prison often becomes a revolving door system. On the contrary, when people have the opportunity to work and re-educate themselves, the rate drops below 10% thanks to alternative measures and opportunities for personal development. Work thus becomes a founding tool and the prison can be a place of re-education and a bridge for the future of people.
