Starting from June 2023, all Capatoast stores will feature Capatoast by Biova Project, the new Italian craft blonde ale that saves the butt... of bread loaves.
This collaboration between Capatoast and Biova Project has given life to a high-quality craft lager made using the discarded ends of the loaves used for toast—affectionately called “culetti” (little butts). This beer will be available from June in over 40 Capatoast toasteries across Italy.
Thanks to our upcycling project, unused bread from Capatoast toasteries has been recovered and transformed into a unique craft beer, brewed with an exclusive recipe perfected by expert brewers. By embracing a business model where dynamic, sustainability-focused partnerships play a key role, Capatoast is now reducing the environmental impact caused by surplus bread in its stores.
“At Biova Project, we are thrilled to have launched our recovery initiative with Capatoast. The ends of toast loaves are a new kind of surplus we hadn’t tackled before—a waste generated by the production process rather than overproduction. Giving these ‘bread butts’ a second life was incredibly rewarding. It reminds me that there is still so much we can do to fight food waste.”
— Franco Dipietro, Founder & CEO of Biova Project
“We’re excited to announce this new partnership, which gives Capatoast a unique opportunity to reaffirm our core values—respect for food and the environment. We are also proud to collaborate with an Italian company whose mission is to develop truly innovative ideas that positively impact the planet’s well-being.”
— Antonio Primerano, Head of Marketing & Product Manager, Capatoast

Capatoast by Biova Project is a one-of-a-kind, bold, and determined beer, full of energy—just like a true capatosta (stubborn go-getter). The perfect beer to enjoy with friends, sharing a toast in every sense of the word!
